Saju is a swordsmith from Sanagochi Village who served the Hachisuka clan of the Awa clan. There is no detailed description of Saju in the inscription, but Hirata is famous as a local sword in his hometown of Tokushima Prefecture, and at the Tokushima City Tokushima Castle Museum, he was active at the end of the Edo period in the Awa Masa Aya system. Wakizashi with a splendid dragon blade carving by Nagami is on permanent display.

This sword is a work in which a straight blade with a bright scent is baked on a fine ground iron without any failure, with a well-kneaded and clogged skin, and a straight blade with a bright scent. It is an outstanding work that shows the high skill of Saju by spreading the sword and returning to the tip Daimaru with plenty of baked hats.
The registration was also in February 1951, the earliest stage of daimyo registration, and since the gold sword at that time was equipped with a habaki, it can be considered that it is a famous sword of the Hachisuka family’s old collection.
* Currently, there is a part around the center of the blade that seems to have hit the cutting edge. Partial polishing is available at a reasonable price.
