Shohei Fujiyasu was born in 1945 in Date District, Fukushima Prefecture. In 1966, he became a swordsmith in Sakaki Town, Nagano Prefecture, a late living national treasure, and Yukihira Miyairi.
In 1975, he opened a swordsmith in Tatsugoyama, Fukushima Prefecture and became independent. Since then, he has been studying and practicing swords, and received the Japan Art Sword Preservation Association Excellence Award 3 times, Encouragement Award 6 times, and Effort Award 7 times. In 1990, he received the Japan Art Sword Preservation Association Chairman’s Award. In 2014, he received the Kanyama Award from the Japan Art Sword Preservation Association.
Dedication training was carried out at many shrines such as Owari Atsuta Jingu and Nara Gokoku Shrine, and in 2008, Japanese sword dedication training was carried out at Hitachi Kashima Jingu for the first time in about 1,300 years since the sword was made by Sabi Daimaro in 704. Do.
In the fall of 1984, he also played a major role in the 61st annual relocation of Ise Jingu Shrine and the service of Mito Tachi swords, and made a great effort to support the reconstruction of Mito Shrine in Minamisoma, Fukushima Prefecture, which was severely damaged by the previous earthquake. He has served as a sacred treasure of straight swords, and most recently has one of the best sword-making techniques of modern Japanese sword masters, such as the restoration and training of large straight swords excavated from the Miyajitake Kofun in Fukuoka.
With a strong desire to reproduce old swords from the Heian and Kamakura eras, he has been engaged in research and training for many years, and has a wealth of knowledge and insights on national treasures, important cultural assets and similar swords, and swords and iron culture nationwide. , Wakizashi, Naginata, Ancient straight sword, etc., to create an accurate and beautiful sword figure. Boasting a wide range of production abilities with vivid ground iron and sword blades, he is also the best modern swordsmith in the central tailoring such as central swordsmiths and inscriptions. Nagasone Kotetsu, who became popularly known as Toru’s stick warp, was also a swordsmith of this era, and the Kanbun new sword body was created by many people (trial), and is most suitable for both cutting and cutting. Currently, people who like Iai want Japanese swords to warp like Japanese swords, and most people prefer six-quarter warp, but I affirm that the sword that is truly suitable for Iai and tameshigiri is the Kanbun new sword. You can do it.
This sword has a shallow warp, the difference between the tip and the tip is wide, and the sharply built-in sword with an extended tip is finely kneaded with a small grained skin. It is a work made by baking old-fashioned mutual nome cloves unique to Shohei. It’s done.
