The Yamato Tekaku faction is said to be a blacksmith group subordinate to Nara Todaiji Temple. Its ancestor is Hakuei, who is said to be the correct answer in the latter half of the Kamakura period, and is the largest school among the five Yamato schools that prospered until the end of the Muromachi period. The inscriptions are named after the characters of the wrapping, such as Hakutoshi, Hakukichi, and Hakuji.
The existing works of Hakutoshi are often seen in the mid-Muromachi period of Kyotoku, but this sword has a warped waist and is different from the later Kanetoshi.
The ground iron is well-kneaded with heather on the plate, giving it a slightly textured appearance and a faint appearance. Although it looks like a monotonous straight blade when viewed roughly, it is a spectacular result unique to the ancient swords of the Northern and Southern Dynasties, such as small bays, small turbulence in the places where the mutual eyes frequently enter, and gold streaks and delicate sunagare. It shows its mouth and is a perfect sword for art appreciation.
