This tour will take you around the winding narrow alleys in Shinjuku, where the atmosphere and buildings are exactly as they were in the Show Era from 1926 to 1989.
Also known as Piss Alley or Drunkard's Alley, the area is well known for its vibrant old-style nightlife and the delectable street food being cooked right by the street. The smell and smoke of barbecue are sure to whet your appetite. Treat yourself to the famous chicken yakitori barbecue and the hearty beef stew known as nikomi.
After eating, you can even go and down your yakitori with the varieties of drinks from the close-knit bars!
12 km. Shinjuku Golden Gai is about 16 to 25 minutes from Tokyo Station by car.
Golden Gai is a private road; Personal photos and memorabilia are allowed. For official shoots or external commercial shoots, there are required permits and photography fees from the Golden Gai union. Photography shoots are not allowed between 7:00 PM and 5:00 AM.
