Fukiya, Yugawara

Fukiya is a luxury ryokan located in Hakone Yugawara Onsen in Ashigarashimo district, where hot springs have almost 1,300 years of history. It is situated atop an elevated area in the town and has a traditional Japanese design, with rooms fitted with tatami mat floors and futon beds.

The inn’s accommodations vary in interiors, with 20 rooms and 7 different types to choose from--all of which having their own private indoor baths made of cypress wood, excluding the single room accommodation. One night’s stay can range from 60,000 to 95,000 JPY.

In addition to the private, en-suite baths, guests may also opt to use one of the private baths, indoor and outdoor, or the large open-air communal baths--the indoor one offering views of nature with its wide, floor-to-ceiling windows, and the open air baths where guests can choose between a rooftop setting and a rocky bath surrounded by nature. Other facilities include a health and beauty center, a souvenir shop, a karaoke room, and meeting/conference rooms.

Fukiya is easily accessible by taking the JR Limited Express from Tokyo Station to Yugawara Station. The accommodation has recently reopened last October 2020 and has since implemented safety measures to prevent the spread of infection.
