Shima Onsen Kashiwaya Ryokan

Shima Onsen Kashiwaya Ryokan is a traditional Japanese inn located in Shima Onsen in Gunma Prefecture. The establishment was created in 1976 and was built with traditional construction methods, and is designed like an old folk-house inn.

There are 15 rooms on the property, each one with a private balcony. The rooms are equipped with tatami mat flooring, a flat-screen television, a mini-bar, and a tea/coffee maker. Each one has a sitting area with low furniture and windows facing south towards the Shima River. Some rooms will have their own private hot-spring baths. One night’s stay can range from 20,000 to 35,000 JPY.
Breakfast can either be Japanese or Western cuisine. Guests can also opt to have brunch at the Kashiwaya Cafe as well. For dinner, the ryokan served local and seasonal dishes that feature Joshu beef, horse sashimi, and local river fish.
Other facilities include a library, a souvenir shop, and three open-air hot spring baths, along with a large communal indoor bath. Guests are also provided with free-use bicycles.
Shima Onsen Kashiwaya Ryokan is accessible by taking the JR Limited Express from Ueno Station, Tokyo. The establishment is operating normally with safety measures in place and limited acceptance to prevent the spread of infection.
