Experience a traditional Kyoto geisha tea ceremony hosted by a geisha, known locally as a geiko, or a maiko apprentice. In a historic setting near Gion and Kiyomizu-dera, you will learn about geisha culture, prepare matcha and watch an elegant Japanese dance performance.

Tea ceremony is part of the artistic training of Kyoto's geisha and maiko. During the experience, your host introduces the movements, utensils and spirit behind the Way of Tea.
You will discover how matcha is prepared and presented to express mindfulness, harmony and respect. The relaxed format makes this Kyoto tea ceremony welcoming even if it is your first time.
A maiko usually hosts the session. On some dates, a geisha may appear depending on availability.
