Kaki Yamabushi — mischief in the orchard

A mountain monk’s misbehaviour in a persimmon orchard leads to comic trouble. Kyogen brings an earthy, playful counterpoint to the world of noh.

From Exit 1 of Higashiyama Station on the Tozai subway line, walk approximately 5 minutes to the theatre.

Doors and reception open at 16:30. The performance begins at 17:30 and the event ends at 19:00.

At the entrance, give reception staff your booking name and reservation number.

BEFORE YOU BOOKAges, ID & audience guidance
  • Ages 6 and above: children under 6 cannot attend. Some quiet scenes require silence.
  • Ages 18 to 25: please bring a valid ID showing your date of birth.
  • Ages 6 to 17: one child may attend free per ticket. Each additional child costs ¥5,000, even if aged 17 or younger. Please book each additional child using the ¥5,000 ticket option in the booking section above, and include the free child in your booking details.
  • Language: English introductions and an interpreted post-show Q&A are included. The plays themselves are traditional performances.
  • Photography: photography is not permitted during performances. Please follow the theatre’s guidance.

Is this suitable for beginners?

Yes. English introductions help first-time audiences enjoy noh and kyogen, with an interpreted Q&A after the show.

How do I buy tickets?

Use the booking section above to select your performance date and tickets. One child aged 6 to 17 may attend free per ticket. Please also book a ¥5,000 ticket for each additional child and include the free child in your booking details.

What does the ticket include?

Admission to IMAGINE NOH, English introductions and an interpreted post-show Q&A.

What if my plans change?

Tickets are non-refundable from 7 days before the performance onwards. See the cancellation policy below.

IMAGINE NOH ticket cancellation policy

Tickets are non-refundable from 7 days before the performance onwards. All cancellation deadlines are based on Japan Standard Time (JST).

If you miss your booked performance, your ticket is non-refundable. A new booking is required to attend a future performance.

Cancellation or amendment requests

Please email cs@maikoya.com with all of the following information:

  1. Booking number
  2. Name used for the booking
  3. Email address used for the booking
  4. Date and time of the performance
  5. Number of participants

Cancellation or amendment requests cannot be handled by phone.

The official request time is the time when we receive all required information by email, based on Japan Standard Time (JST). If any information is missing, your request may not be treated as an official cancellation or amendment request until the missing information has been provided.
