Wakakusano Yado Marutei is a lakeside lodging located in Minamitsuru District in Yamanashi Prefecture. The lakeside property gives its guests a breathtaking view of the imposing figure of Mount Fuji overlooking the sparkling waters of Lake Kawaguchi.
There are 50 rooms in the ryokan, all of which are air-conditioned and provided with a flat-screen television. Some of the rooms have a sitting area where guests can relax and look into the landscape. Staying for one night will range from 15,000 to 16,000 JPY.
Wakakusano Yado Marutei offers a wide choice of hot spring baths to its guests, from indoor baths with windows overlooking the lake to open-air baths on observation decks, as well as private baths where one or a group can monopolize and enjoy the view of Mount Fuji.
Guests can travel by bus from Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal to Kawaguchiko Station. An alternative that the management suggests is taking the Chuo Express Bus.
Wakakusano Yado Marutei is operating normally with safety measures in place and limited acceptance to prevent the spread of infection.

I really enjoyed the hospitality, lots of good little things and great finesse in their service. The baths are fun to try. The meals were the real deal Japanese food. Very professional and courteous.
My gentle feedback is that my room was likely located directly below the baths, as such I could hear the water running all the time. Wasn't an issue for me nevertheless.
Stress just washed away
Absolutely lovely stay. Whilst other onsen ryokans do not cater for solo travellers, I felt welcome here. Stunning views of mt Fuji from onsen. Would recommend watching sunrise and sunset over my Fuji.
2nd Trip and Always A Lovely Stay!
This is my second trip to this ryokan. 1st was with friends and this time with family. The experience just keeps getting better! My family and I had a very relaxing stay, a much needed commune with the beauty of Mt. Fuji, away from the hustle of the city. The staff, food, the onsen are all A-plus! I’ve recommended this to friends and family and do so to everyone who wants to have a gorgeous first-time onsen experience.
Amazing Japanese Hospitality
My family of 4 checked in for a 2D1N stay at their tatami room which included dinner and breakfast. Thought it was a little pricey, but it was worth every cent. Strategically housed beside the Kawaguchi lake, the scenery is awesome. And also imagine soaking in onsen facing Fujisan!! Dinner and breakfast was also very exquisitely done and every service staff is friendly with some speaking fluent English. Thanks for a great stay and we'll choose this ryokan again if we ever come back.
Amazing experience (highly recommend)
I highly recommend staying here. The staff is so nice, the food elaborate, the experience is traditional. I was impressed with everything and it was so relaxing after a long flight in. The views were great amd the spa was so relaxing although very hot! Overall beautiful experience. The staff was also decent at English.
