The Perfect Evening Plan

Dinner. Then 45 Minutes in Old Japan.

Shinjuku at night is neon, noise, and crowds. Two minutes off the main street, another Japan is waiting. Step out of 2026 and into the age of the samurai — and be back at your hotel by nine.

UNTIL 6:45 PM

Enjoy Shinjuku

Dinner, shopping, sightseeing — the museum is steps from the heart of Shinjuku, so nothing about your evening changes.

7:00 PM

Your Mission Begins

The doors close behind you and the modern city disappears. For 45 minutes, you live inside a story from Japan's warrior age — and the story answers back.

BY 8:00 PM

Back to the Night

Return to the neon with photos, stories, and a night your kids will still be talking about at breakfast.

Step Inside the Story

You Don't Watch This Story. You Join It.

After dark, the lights go low and the museum changes. At the entrance you are welcomed not as visitors, but as new recruits of a ninja clan — and from that moment, your mission has already begun.

Led through halls of real armor and blades, you watch Japan's warrior age unfold around you. Who guides you through the dark — and whose side they're on — is something you'll find out tonight. Some moments you watch, holding your breath. Some moments, the story turns to you — because the samurai know you're here.

What happens along the way is a secret we keep for every guest. We'll only say this: the night does not go quietly.

Highlights

What Makes This Night Different

Become a Ninja for the Night

This is not a tour you follow — it's a mission you're recruited into. From the very first moment you're one of the clan, whatever your age and even if it's your first taste of Japanese history.

Live Performance Moments

Real performers, real blades, real tension. The exhibition halls become a stage, and history gets loud, funny, and breathtakingly close.

The Shuriken Finale

Every mission ends with a test. Take real shuriken — the ninja's legendary throwing stars — in hand, learn the proper grip and stance, and take your throws at the target. Kids and adults alike get their turn, and landing one earns you bragging rights for the rest of the trip.

A Photo You Can't Take Anywhere Else

End the night with a staged photo moment among armor and shadows — proof that for one evening in Shinjuku, you stepped into another century.

The Night Your Kids Will Talk About All Trip

No reading, no waiting, no "please be quiet." Kids don't just watch this story — they're invited into it. Preview families told us it was the highlight of their entire Japan trip, for the 8-year-olds and the parents alike.

FAQ

Good to Know Before You Book

Is it scary for kids?
No. It's a theatrical, family-friendly experience — dramatic, funny and exciting rather than frightening. Families with kids aged 8–10 in our preview week rated it the highlight of their Japan trip. All ages are welcome.
Is everything in English?
Yes, the entire experience is conducted in English. No Japanese and no history knowledge needed — the story carries you.
Can we walk around the exhibits freely?
The night session is a guided, story-based tour — the group moves through the halls together as the mission unfolds, so free exploration of the museum is not part of this program. If you'd like to browse the exhibits at your own pace, our daytime museum ticket is the one for that.
How is this different from the daytime museum ticket?
The daytime tour is a guided museum visit with time to view the exhibits. The night mission is a live, story-driven program that exists only on these evenings: night staging, performance moments, guest participation and the shuriken finale. You can do both — they don't overlap.
Can we take photos?
Yes — photos are welcome, and the night ends with a dedicated photo moment. We only ask that you avoid long video recording during performance sections.
Where exactly is the museum?
Oriental Wave Building, 5-17-13 Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo — a few minutes' walk from the heart of Shinjuku.
Heads-up: map apps sometimes show a different, temporarily closed "Samurai Museum" nearby. Please check for Oriental Wave Building 1F before you head over — we'd hate for you to miss the 7:00 PM start.
