Check in at MAIKOYA ASAKUSA, choose your kimono, and enjoy the tea ceremony with seasonal sweets. Approx. 90 minutes including kimono dressing and photo time.

Samurai Ninja Museum

Join the English guided tour of the samurai and ninja exhibits, test your aim in the shuriken throwing experience, and take souvenir photos in soft samurai armor. Approx. 60 minutes.

  • Children under 7 years old cannot enter the tea ceremony venue. If you have a child under 7 in your party, you cannot make a reservation for this combo.
  • The samurai sword lesson and the full Samurai Sword / Ninja Experience programs are not included in this combo ticket (see "What Is Included" above).
  • The tea ceremony session is guided in English. The museum tour is also available in English.

Your kimono can be rented until 6:00 PM, so after your combo experiences, feel free to keep your kimono on and enjoy a leisurely stroll through Asakusa — Senso-ji Temple, Nakamise shopping street, and the surrounding old town make wonderful backdrops for photos.

What is included in the combo ticket?

The combo ticket includes (1) the Kimono Tea Ceremony at Maikoya Asakusa — kimono wearing, an English-guided matcha tea ceremony, and seasonal Japanese sweets — and (2) the Samurai Ninja Museum Basic Ticket — an English guided museum tour, a shuriken (ninja star) throwing experience, and photo time in soft samurai armor.

Is a ninja costume or samurai sword lesson included in the combo ticket?

No. The museum portion of this combo is the Basic Ticket (guided tour, shuriken throwing, and soft samurai armor photo time). Ninja costume dressing and sword training are part of the separate Ninja Experience and Samurai Sword Experience programs in Asakusa.

What is the difference between this combo and the Samurai Sword / Ninja Experience programs?

The combo ticket includes the museum's Basic Ticket: a guided tour, shuriken throwing, and soft samurai armor photo time. The 【Asakusa】Premium Samurai Sword Experience, the family-friendly Samurai Sword Experience, and the Ninja Experience in Asakusa are separate, longer programs that include costume dressing and training activities. Please book those programs separately, or contact us about adding one to your visit.

Can I add the Samurai Sword or Ninja Experience on the day of my visit?

Adding a separate program on the day may be possible depending on the schedule and availability. To make sure a time slot is available, we recommend booking the program in advance or contacting us at cs@maikoya.com. You can also ask our staff when you arrive.

Where should I go first?

Please show up at the KIMONO TEA CEREMONY MAIKOYA ASAKUSA venue first. After the tea ceremony, our staff will give you directions to the Samurai Ninja Museum Asakusa, which is about a 5-minute walk away. A walking route map is available on this page.

How long does the whole combo take?

The tea ceremony lasts approximately 90 minutes including kimono dressing, and the museum tour with the shuriken experience lasts approximately 60 minutes. Including the walk between the venues, please allow about 2.5 to 3 hours in total.

Can children join the combo experience?

Children aged 7 and older are welcome. Children under 7 cannot enter the tea ceremony venue, so parties with a child under 7 cannot book this combo.

Can I stroll around Asakusa in my kimono?

Yes. The kimono can be rented until 6:00 PM, so after your combo experiences you are welcome to keep your kimono on and stroll through the historic streets of Asakusa — the venue is right by Senso-ji Temple and Nakamise shopping street.

What if I cannot select any dates on the calendar?

If you are unable to select any dates or times on the calendar, it means that we are fully booked. Please also consider our new Shinjuku branch.
