Established in 1951, Hakone Ginyu is a spa resort located in the mountains of Hakone. Its entrance and lobby situate at the top of the building.

Japanese aesthetics are often resounded by designs of the resort, which can be spotted around the area. Hakone Ginyu is surrounded by nature that helps guests forget their worries.

It is interestingly an inn safe from the pandemic but also encourages guests to take precautionary measures and adhere to policies implemented. Hakone Ginyu has a total of 20 rooms that cost around 60,000 – 95,000 JPY per night, each equipped with open-air hot spring baths and terraces where guests can view nature.

A rental bath is also available for private use. Its location is near Lake Ashinoko and the Hakone Shrine.

It is a popular hot spring, so guests must quickly book their reservations or take a train or car from Tokyo.

Incredible
My partner and I celebrated our 15 year anniversary here and wow, it was incredible. The service is outstanding as soon as you arrive. Staff is extremely attentive. The private onsens are life changing. We never wanted to leave. The full dinner in the room every night was amazing, as was the daily breakfast. We also had massages at the spa, which were amazing. And we rented out the spa for one night and they literally fill the place with candles for you and let you use the private onsen there and bring you drinks. So amazing. Also, we sprung for the two story maisonette room and it was totally worth it. That room was not available the last night we were there (we booked late) and we got switched to one of the regular rooms, which was nice but not as private or spectacular as the maisonette. Overall, this place was unbelievable.

Awesome experience !
Our first experience at a Ryokan and Ginyu sets the bar really really high. The rooms with our own private Onsen was nothing short of excellent. We particularly love the separate dinning area of the mansionate style room we stayed. One thing we wish they had provided was a complementary transfer from the nearest train station as it wasn’t a nice experience having to carry multiple luggages on a crowded public bus.

Exceptional service, coupled with Magnificent autumn views = unforgettable trip
It was an unforgettable experience. One of the best onsen i had. We stayed in the Tsuki room. Staffs service are exceptional. One of their staff came out in the cold to receive us without additional coat. We were worried he may catch a cold. As the rail service was down due to the typhoon that hit Hakone in Oct ~ we had to take the replacement buses so he still make sure we catches the correct bus before making his way back to the indoor.Food prepared was so intricate & beautiful. I loved their Kaiseki meals that had ended with yummy desserts (loved their baked apple with ice cream). I tried both of 2 outdoor public onsens, the views are jaw dropping. My own room onsens are equally beautiful. I stayed at Level 1 Japanese style room. I would like to thank them for making this trip a wonderful experience.

Relaxing and beautiful, but showing age
We stayed at this hotel the final night of our honeymoon and the staff really went out of their way to make it special for us. The care and attention they provide here is absolutely wonderful, from the moment we arrived when they accepted our bags and shoes to when they walked us out to the street to catch our bus. We loved the meals, even though we expected to be a little overwhelmed by the seafood -- they were very, very good. During the dessert course they pulled us to the bar for a little anniversary celebration which was very sweet and unexpected. The views are outrageously nice, and gazing out at them from a private onsen was one of the most memorable experiences of our entire trip. Seriously, it was INCREDIBLE. It rained in the morning and watching the clouds roll in from a hot bath was amazing. The rooms are also HUGE and very cozy feeling at night, even with all the windows. My only concern, and I did expect this coming in, is that the property is showing its age and does have a pretty pronounced musty smell which I imagine is common in buildings in the area as I'm sure it gets pretty humid. Still, if you have trouble with smells, just note that it it pretty pronounced. I had read other reviews of the rooms being too hot, and ours did get quite hot at night until we figured out how to work the air conditioner, whose label was in Japanese, at which point the room cooled down substantially. Overall, this is a lovely place to stay, though, and worth the price for the experience (in our opinion). My husband didn't mind any of the things that bothered me, so it may just be personal preference.

Wonderfully serene and luxurious
Spectacular views from lobby as you enter the ryokan. We were whisked to the lobby bar for welcome drinks while we awaited checkin. Our room was on the first floor with a separate dining room and two private onsens that seamlessly blended from indoor to outdoor with floor to ceiling glass sliding doors. The 14 course in room dinner was Michelin worthy (for reference, we hit two 3 star Michelin restaurants in japan on this trip). One of the public onsens is an infinity pool overlooking the mountains and misty clouds that was just mind blowing. There is a separate bar on the first floor with a tropical theme that is very tranquil at night and serves a free drink at happy hour. Overall, a wonderfully memorable experience.
