Hana Momiji is a beautiful Japanese onsen inn located at Minami of Sapporo near the Jozankei forest, with its area near to shrines and sites. Each room is designed in traditional Japanese style that offers guests a scenic view from its windows.

The ryokan provides travelers 80 rooms in total that costs around 15,000 to 40,000 JPY per night, which includes manual control of heating and cooling of the room, an attached bathroom, and a Japanese tea set. Hana Momiji has hot-spring baths where guests can bathe in relaxation while enjoying the view of mountains.

The inn also offers a free shuttle bus ride from the JR Sapporo Station, which takes around an hour.

Relaxing and spacious
The whole hotel gives you a relaxed vibe. For one, you could sit and listen to music while enjoying free drinks and snacks in the lounge. For another, after taking a hot bath in the onsen, you can further relax yourself with the comfort of massage chair. The reception is welcoming and helpful (note: I speak a little bit of Japanese). The room is well-maintained and spacious. The supper is flavorful, while the breakfast buffet is also enjoyable.

Beautiful onsen but food and service can be better
Hotel is located in the Jozankei hot spring area. There are several hotel options in that area. It is a large hotel with several hot spring options. Dinner and breakfast were included. Breakfast was ok and dinner was mixed. First night the dinner seemed to have been sitting there for a while and the food was not that fresh. Second night was better. I had stayed in similar type of hot spring hotel in the past so I feel this one is not as good. There are no lunch options inside the hotel so you will need to find other places within the area. The area doesn't have much as they probably expect people to go elsewhere during the day. Onsens were quite nice especially the outdoor one on the second floor. Staffs spoke very limited English. We took the wrong bus that didn't take us directly to the hotel but got off the main road. We had a lot of trouble getting someone to pick us up and eventually found another hotel on the main road to call them to have them pick us up. They have a free shuttle to Sapporo station and vice versa but only once a day. The tip is to book the ride back to Sapporo station immediately after you arrive as we tried to book 1 day in advance and they said it was full. Luckily there was some no shows on the day of our departure and we were able to get on the last minute.

Nice onsen hotel with delicious food
Beautiful place. Staff speaks little or no English at all. Be prepared for zero communication thru email as no one seems to read or bother to reply. Once book, just go and be surprise, that’s what we set our mind since no reply from hotel abt bus pickup, dinner arrangement etc. we did have a great time despite all these thou. Limited private onsen ( cost 2500 yen per room of 2-3 or 3-4) slot available a day. So book that first thing upon arrival. Free foot onsen up hill and down. Nothing much to do around thou. Just enjoy slow down time n good for relaxation.

Very traditional Japanese experience.
This is what we wanted. Jozankei is an onsen town just out of Sapporo, full of tourists. We booked a Japanese style room with breakfast and Kaiseki dinner included, which was not cheap but for a treat worth every cent. The room was huge, and after dinner when we came back to our room our beds were laid out beautifully. The Kaiseki dinner was delicious, although we felt it was just dumped in front of us all at once and was very difficult for us to know exactly what and how we were eating. Not really much finesse as I had expected. The breakfast was ordinary. We booked a private onsen bath - fabulous, but then we were told of the additional fee. Still worth it for a genuine hot springs experience.

Very good hotel.. almost excellent.
Hana-Momiji Onsen  Hotel Big room. CLEAN!  Beautiful!  Food was first class ( because we choose expensive package ?) Beautiful downstairs Onsen too, unfortunately meant to be used by women. Men can use it only between 6-9 am. ( and this also includes breakfast time at 7  am.) Surrounding was beautiful. Staff really scurried to help you. Difficult to find this these days unless you own the hotel. Breakfast was also beautiful,  mainly Japanese though. Just get by western. You should learn to enjoy local dishes and local customs anyhow, otherwise why bother to go traveling.
