Hotel Takamatsu is a fusion of a traditional ryokan and a modern hotel located in Kusatsu Onsen in Gunma Prefecture. It features over a hundred rooms with tatami mat flooring and futon beds. Each room comes with a flat-screen television, an electric kettle, and an en-suite bathroom. Yukata robes are also provided for the duration of the guests’ stay. One night may range from 5,000 to 35,000 JPY.

As Kusatsu Onsen is known for its acidic hot spring baths, Hotel Takamatsu offers the use of multiple bath options: large communal baths, open-air baths, and a private, reservable hot-spring bath in the gardens.

Hotel Takamatsu offers four restaurants for the guests, each with their own specialty kaiseki meals, and are well-known for their A5 grade Joshu beef, Gunma vegetables, and local sake. Guests may choose to partake in their meals on-site or in their rooms. For breakfast, sets are available instead of a buffet as a countermeasure against infections.

Hotel Takamatsu is accessible by taking the JR Limited Express from Ueno Station, Tokyo. A shuttle service is available for scheduling to and from Kusatsu Onsen Bus Terminal. The establishment is operating normally with safety measures in place and limited acceptance to prevent the spread of infection.

No sleep
Usually I don’t write a report with negative informations. But this time I feel urged to do so. To start with the positive. Like everywhere in Japan the rooms are extremely clean. I took a bigger twin room and the room offered plenty of space. The interior designer was certainly not the best in his class. The hotel staff is very friendly, bilingual and polite. The restaurants tries very hard and offers reasonable food, considering you are in Takamatsu. Coming to the bed. Horrible. Hard like a wooden plank. The cushions are a joke. Unfortunately, I couldn’t sleep at all. Automatic air condition doesn’t help you. Or it is hot, or you are freezing. First and last time I stayed here

Excellent service, great corner rooms with beautiful views
Directly outside Takamatsu Station and conveniently located for town, the hotel was a great place to stay. We had two 16th floor Corner Twin Rooms. One with a view of the ferries and ocean and the other with a view of Takamatsu Castle. Both were excellent. The rooms are very well maintained, have loads of amenties and had comfortable sitting areas. The beds are really comfortable and feature a brand called Air Weave which we all thought were excellent. The front desk and cleaning staff were all very friendly, hospitable and welcoming. We did not use and of the hotel restaurants but did have a look at the top floor bar and it looked great. The hotel is close to lots of eateries and shopping if you are an avid walker. Across the street is the Kotoden Train line and there you can purchase the Busshozan Onsen Tempyoyu package which includes all day use of the Kotoden Railway, ticket to the Onsen, fan which doubles as your ticket and a towel which you receive at the onsen. Busshozan is a great little village and is an excellent day trip wandering around the historical district, visiting the wee shops and then finishing off your day at this outstanding onsen. Loved it. We very much enjoyed our stay here and I would not consider any other property on our next visit to Takamatsu and Shikoku. Thanks!

Wonderful Hotel
We thoroughly enjoyed this hotel. The room was good sized with a wonderful view. The bathroom was nice and the property has all the amenities, including a very nice rooftop bar. The best was the staff. Everyone was always kind and accommodating. I would recommend this property.

Great hotel base for the Setouchi Triennale
The hotel is one of the more luxurious properties in Takamatsu and a stone's throw from the train and bus stations as well as the port. A great base to discover the nearby "art islands" such as Naoshima, Megijima, Ogijima etc. It is incredibly well maintained, despite its distinct 90s aesthetic, with rooms and bathrooms that are well appointed and spacious. Their concierge service is also top notch - they were super helpful in making reservations for the hard-to-book Setouchi Triennale experiences months before our check in.

Great Hotel close to all Amenities
Very comfortable hotel with larger than normal rooms and all amenities and toiletries. The hotel is also close to the railway station where there are plenty of cafes and restaurants to choose from. The hotel foyer is huge with quality furnishings and a magnificent chandelier and the breakfast was excellent with a great choice of Japanese or Western cuisine.
