Seiryuso Shimoda

Seiryuso is a traditional Japanese inn located in a city belonging to the Izu peninsula in the Shizuoka Prefecture named Shimoda.

The area is renowned for being rich in natural hot springs. The ryokan continues to serve its guests with quality and safety amid the pandemic. Seiryuso encourages travelers to cooperate with the measures they have taken to prevent infection of the coronavirus.

The inn is an ideal retreat accommodation that offers relaxation and an intimate connection with nature. Seiryuso prides itself in its communal bath, which is a hot-spring pool embraced by trees. It also differs from other ryokan onsens as guests are welcome to enjoy and throw splashes with each other. The ryokan also offers private baths.

The best room of Seiryuso is equipped with tatami mat flooring and an outdoor hot-spring bath overlooking the charming garden of the inn. Other rooms include indoor hot baths where guests can also view the landscaped garden.

The inn has a total of 26 rooms, which cost about 20,000 to 80,000 JPY per night. If baths are not enough, the inn welcomes guests to its sauna with designs inspired by ancient Rome and a spa.
Seiryuso also offers fresh seafood in their kaiseki dishes, with ingredients locally sourced and other meals based on the season. With a full stomach, it is nice to take a stroll to nearby sites like the Shirahama beach or temples like Hofukuji and Ryosenji.
