Gion Ryokan Karaku is not just an ordinary traditional ryokan.  It is called ryori ryokan. They focus on what they serve on their dinner tables.

Their menu include Kyo kaiseki, traditional Kyoto-style course meal.  During dinner time, you can enjoy fresh locally grown vegetables and seasonal ingredients.  Popular hot pot dishes, shabushabu (wagyu beef, pork, seafood), chanko, to name a few to be served to satisfy your appetite.

All types of rooms are available depending on your purposes and budget.  On the top floor, there is a suite which was newly renovated recently. It is 40m² and accommodates up to 4 people.  From the large window you can enjoy the views of Kyoto in the morning sun.

It is a traditional Japanese-style ryokan situated at popular Gion district which is known as the home of GeishaKyoto Ryokan ” The KINOE” is close to tourist attractions such as Yasaka Shrine, Kodai-ji Temple. 

Kennin-ji Temple which was constructed in the early 1200s and well-known as the first Zen Temple in Kyoto is also located nearby.  The founder of the temple, Yosai introduced tea drinking customs into Japan upon returning from China where he studied Buddhism. The temple is also famous for the dragon images painted on the ceiling of the Dharma Hall. Ninen-zaka and Sannen-zaka are also at your doorstep where tourists enjoy easy strolls to Kiyomizu-dera temple while taking a look at numerous souvenir shops. 

Kyoto Ryokan ” The KINOE” serves Kyoto style course meal, which has over 1,000 years of history.  The ingredients are carefully selected by the head chef and they prepares seasonal dishes for you.  Please note they are unable to prepare vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and religious meals.  However, requests for allergies and dislikes are negotiable.
