Kiyomizu Temple (清水寺), formally Otowa-san Kiyomizu-dera (音羽山清水寺), is a Buddhist temple in eastern Kyoto. The temple is part of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto (Kyoto, Uji, and Otsu Cities). The place is not to be confused with Kiyomizu-dera in Yasugi, Shimane, which is part of the 33-temple route of the Chūgoku 33 Kannon Pilgrimage through western Japan, or the Kiyomizu-dera temple associated with the Buddhist priest Nichiren.

4.Kodai-ji Zen Temple (高台寺)

Passing through the Yasaka shrine, You will meet beautiful stone pavement which is called “Nenenomichi”. In the middle of the tasteful street, Kodaiji is located. Inside of Kodaiji,  there are various Important Cultural Property. Hideyoshi and Nene’s statue enshrined in Otamaya. ”Garyoro” is the famous step with the roof. You also enjoy a nice garden designed by Kobori Ensyu along with “Kangetsudai”.

Which is Nene’s favorite place. After Hideyoshi passed away, I wonder if Nene might have thought Hideyoshi looking at the moon there.

On the opposite side of Kodaiji, you can see“Entokuin”. This is a graceful gold lacquer interior, and then a common name is “ Makiedera” or gold lacquer temple. You also enjoy the changing of the four seasons in “Kitaniwa” or north garden.

5.Yasaka Pagoda 八坂の塔 (法観寺)

Yasaka Pagoda is inside of Hokanji temple. This temple was built around 6 century. This small temple precinct has no buildings, so commonly called “ “Yasakano-to” has come to refer to the temple itself.

Why people like Yasaka Pagoda? The reason is that there is still remaining old town scenery featuring Kyoto. You can see Yasaka Pagoda as a landmark from every direction. When you are walking around in the early morning or the evening twilight time, you will find a nice collaboration of “Yasaka Pagoda” and old Japanese style of buildings.
