Ebisu Ryokan

Ebisu Ryokan, ebisuryokan.com

Founded in 2015, Ebisu Ryokan is a traditional Japanese inn that has continued to serve its guests with utmost hospitality and quality services. It aims to provide visitors a good and memorable experience during their stay. The ryokan can be found in the old town part of Kyoto, which is Minami. Minami is known for the unique mix of residential areas and historical sites. This makes Ebisu Ryokan a uniquely situated inn.

Another unique trait of Ebisu Ryokan is that it is based on the “Seven Lucky Gods” of Japanese Mythology. Historically, this tale represented the importance of the number seven in Japan. The inn is named after one of the deities, the group that was claimed to grant fortune. Ebisu represents a strong symbol, signifying a safe journey and good luck.

Their air-conditioned rooms are equipped with futon-bedding for a sleep sound for the guests. Aside from being comfortable during your visit, Ebisu Ryokan also encourages its visitors to take part in Japanese culture by wearing a yukata provided by them. Great Ryokan!
Great ryokan located near Kyoto Station. This place is really clean. Staff are friendly, but some staff can't speak english. Receptionist only available at certain time. The door will be locked at 8pm. Check out policy really simple, just write your name and drop your key. Recommended!

Nice and homey
It's nice, comfortable and at a great price. A bit of adjustment may be needed if you're used to spreading out in a hotel room of the usual format and one may find the bathroom to be a bit small. Still, my brother and I enjoyed our stay and sleep, this being our first experience with the ryokan format. The staff was also very helpful and quick to answer any concerns we had and they can understand English very well, so there weren't any problems communicating. The location in particular is very convenient, being just a short distance away from Kyoto Station, the bus stops, Aeon Mall and Avanti. There's also a nearby laundromat (if you're doing laundry past the allowed time) and sento, so conveniences are just a small walk away.

Small rooms like a capsule hotel. .. That's Ebisu Ryoken for us
Extremely small rooms even by Japanese standards .There is no place in the room after laying the bed on the floor. Except for sleeping on the floor and two kimonos hanging on the wall, there is no Ryoken feel. For me it's better to stay in the hotel then this kind of Ryoken. Moreover the place is quite difficult to find. On the positive side, the place is very near to Kyoto station and could be value for money to budget Travelers.

Fantastic hospitality and comfortable rooms
I stayed here because it’s close to the Kyoto station (like 7 mins walking) and I don’t regret it; it’s clean, comfortable, the hospitality is AWESOME and the rooms have nice tatami mats which resembles the “Ryokan” style. I would recommend it 100%

Great stay with wonderful staff!!
We had a wonderful stay here. I really slept well on the mattress on the tatami mats. Convenient to Kyoto station to get around. Staff spoke english and was very helpful. They stored our luggage before and after checkout so we could tour Kyoto. Would stay here again.
